Progress and devices
Is my progress saved?
Yes. The game saves on your device as you play and, when you're signed in to iCloud, backs up your progress to your own iCloud account.
How do I play on a second iPhone or iPad?
Sign in to the same Apple Account on both devices, with iCloud turned on. Open the game on the new device and your progress will sync automatically. Give it a moment the first time.
My progress is missing.
Check that you're signed in to the same Apple Account as before, and that iCloud is on for the game (Settings > [your name] > iCloud). Then close and reopen the game. Progress saved only on a device that was erased, without iCloud, can't be recovered.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Levels play offline. You need a connection for iCloud sync, Game Center, purchases, mailbox gifts and content updates.
Purchases and the Yokai Pass
I bought something but didn't get it.
Close and reopen the game. Purchases that were interrupted are delivered the next time the game starts. If something is still missing, go to Shop and tap Restore Purchases.
How do I restore Remove Ads or the Yokai Pass on a new device?
Shop > Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought them with. Coins are consumable and are saved with your progress instead.
What does the Yokai Pass include?
Unlimited hearts, no ads, 200 bonus coins every day (claim them on the Daily screen) and double coins from chests. It's available monthly or yearly; the yearly plan begins with a 3-day free trial.
How do I cancel the Yokai Pass?
On your iPhone: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > Yokai Pass > Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews. You keep the benefits until the end of the period you paid for.
How do I ask for a refund?
Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Can I stop a child from buying things?
Yes. Use Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases, or Ask to Buy with Family Sharing.
Playing the game
How do hearts work?
You have up to 5 hearts. Losing a level costs one, and a heart refills every 30 minutes, even while the game is closed. You can also get hearts from chests, the shop, or by watching an optional video. Yokai Pass members have unlimited hearts.
What do the boosters do?
- Hammer: smashes three of the same yokai.
- Wind: shuffles the whole board.
- Lantern: lights up tiles that complete a set in your tray.
- Kappa: adds an eighth slot to your tray for the level.
A yokai jumped out at me!
That's a yokai encounter: tap it quickly to catch it for bonus coins. If you'd rather not be surprised, turn off Yokai scares in Settings.
How do I change the language?
Settings > Language. The game supports English, Japanese, French and Thai, or follows your iPhone's language.
How do I turn off music, sounds or vibration?
Settings has separate switches for Music, Sound and Haptics.
I'm stuck on a level.
Try a booster, or replay an earlier level to earn coins and stars. Daily quests and the login calendar give free boosters too.
Notifications and the mailbox
What are the mailbox letters?
Messages from us: news, events and, sometimes, gifts. Open the mailbox to claim a gift; each gift can be claimed once.
How do I turn notifications on or off?
iPhone Settings > Notifications > Yokai.
Game Center
My score isn't on the leaderboard.
Make sure you're signed in to Game Center (iPhone Settings > Game Center). Scores are sent when you finish a level while online, so play one level with a connection and check again.
